Now Recruiting Therapists Licensed in New York

Are you a clinician with demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and want to be a part of a collaborative community of clinicians dedicated to improving BIPOC mental health care? We'd love for you to join our team!
Unmute is partnering with New York University
to conduct a clinical study
We’re conducting a clinical trial of our Culturally-Affirming Racial Equity (CARE) framework — a culturally responsive, anti-oppressive approach that complements evidence-based treatments like CBT. Our goal is to enhance cross-cultural therapeutic relationships and improve engagement and outcomes for diverse clients.
This clinical trial focuses on training therapists to work more effectively with Asian American clients, especially when they do not share the same racial/ethnic background.
Recruiting 8 non-Asian American clinicians in
private practice to join our team
Clinicians must be available from August 2025 - April 2026 and meet the following criteria:
-
Non-Asian American masters’ level therapists with training in CBT and 2+ years of clinical experience post-licensure without any ethical violations
-
Licensed and insured in New York state, working as a clinician in private practice, and already accepting insurance
-
Able to provide teletherapy to 5 clients for ~15 sessions of individual therapy (Unmute will provide the referrals) paid through insurance or out of pocket
-

-
Attend weekly 90-min virtual group supervision meetings from September 2025 through April 2026 (or until all cases are completed)
-
Willing to complete periodic brief surveys about your clients and to videorecord sessions for supervision and quality improvement
-
Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in mental health care, and interest in being part of a collaborative community of clinicians dedicated to improving BIPOC mental health care
Therapists will be compensated up to $5000
in addition to receiving client referrals
Participating therapists will be compensated with the following payment timeline:
-
$2,225 upon completing the three in-person group training sessions and after completing the 3rd session with their first Unmute client
-
An additional $2,225 will be distributed to the therapist upon completing the last therapy session of their 5th client
-
In addition, therapists will be eligible to receive up to an additional $550 in the form of e-gift cards for completing questionnaires related to this project.
